Rounding up our Charity Pledge – Age UK Essex

Age UK Essex aim to promote the wellbeing of all older people in Essex, reduce loneliness among the older population and assist them to live independent lives. They achieve this through some fantastic services; Home Help, Sitting Service, Befriending, Toenail Cutting, Advocacy, Dementia Connections and Information & Advice. Their services are mostly free, and those that do cost see the profits reinvested straight back into their free services – This was just one of many reasons they were an easy choice for us to support.

A large part of our effort to support Age UK was through knitting. Throughout the course of this year, our team and family members have been making little hats for The Big Knit campaign, due to run in winter 2017. When all was said and done we donated 85 hats and 10 ‘Twiddlemuffs’ – knitted cuffs adorned with buttons and the like to keep the hands of people with dementia busy. On their request we also took a look at their recruitment processes, donating our expertise to help Age UK Essex in recruiting staff and volunteers.

Supporting Age UK Essex has been a great experience, they are a fantastic charity to work with and really deserving of any support you can give them. If you’d like to find out more about Age UK Essex, the services they have and the support they offer, take a look at their website on!

Here’s what Age UK Essex had to say about our efforts with them this year;

Bright Selection are an amazing team and it has been a wonderful year to have their support so we can support others. Aside from the team’s fundraising efforts they have also been a great corporate asset to assist in reviewing our recruitment procedures. On behalf of the people of Essex we want to publicly thank them for everything they’ve done for Age UK Essex this year!
