Our Age UK Essex project – Little hats, big difference

Throughout the course of our 5th birthday, we’ve been supporting our 5 chosen charities in all sorts of ways – from our Superhero Boot Camp for MNDA, to our Olympic & Paralympic Pledge for The Silver Line, and of course our wonderfully successful Curry & Quiz night for St Helena Hospice & Stepping Stones (and a few other things along the way!). We’re really proud of the effort our team have been making to support these worthy causes, and it’s incredibly rewarding to get feedback from our charities to tell us that they’re pleased with us too.

Of course, we’ve still yet to show our support for chosen charity #5 – Age UK Essex.

Age UK Essex work in the local Essex community, promoting the wellbeing of all older people in the area and helping to address the harmful impact of loneliness. They do this through their fantastic Befriending team and their Advice & Information centre, alongside community outreach projects that look to empower and inform older people across the county.

However, Age UK Essex do not receive any funding from the national Age UK charity, and although they have an excellent self-funding structure through their trading company and fee charging services, the work they do is incredibly altruistic and more than worthy of our support. Which is exactly why this year we have decided as a business to be actively involved in The Big Knit!

You’ve probably heard of The Big Knit before – little hats, big cause, and innocent smoothies – sound familiar? Well our team, and in particular one of our team’s mothers, have been hard at work knitting hats to adorn shelves worth of innocent smoothie bottles, scheduled to roll out in November 2017. We thought it was about time we shared this with you.
