Rounding up our Charity Pledge – Stepping Stones

Stepping Stones Play & Learn Group is an integrated nursery for mainstream children and children with additional needs, local to us in Colchester, so were an obvious beneficiary of our support this year.

Some of our team know children that have benefited directly through the charity’s fantastic support but we were all united when it came to fundraising and volunteering for them. Their integrated nursery is a brilliant way for children of all abilities and backgrounds to interact – To play, learn and develop together – so it’s no wonder their founder Carol Nice (by name, as well as nature) was awarded an MBE this year for her work with the charity and in the community.

We’ve had a lot of fun supporting Stepping Stones throughout this year. We started it all off with the Silver Ball, twirling our way through their 25th Anniversary Fundraiser. Next came Sports Day, where Karen, Emma & previous staff-member Catherine supported the children and handed out rosettes as they ran, hopped and jumped across the finish line. The garden clear-up was next, with our resident chilli-grower Jo donning her overalls to help staff clear their play area. Lastly, we supported them through our Charity Curry & Quiz Night, managing to raise £1,000 each for both Stepping Stones & St Helena Hospice.

Stepping Stones are always really appreciative of any financial help they can get, as they are almost entirely self-funded. If you’d like to find out more about them or the work they do to support the community, click here; http://www.steppingstonesplayandlearn.org/

We are a non-profit making charity and have to raise our own funds to support our children and their families. It is a tremendous support when money is raised for us. We know how hard fundraising is, coming up with ideas, organising the events, gifts for raffles and advertising all takes time and commitment and your team have been amazing. We know we could not provide our service without the support of people like yourselves who give up your time to raise funds to help us. It is really good to share with parents that you also came in to the group offering practical help and support. It has been great to have people in who are interested in the care we offer and how our families cope. For many families we are the only respite they have and they are very grateful so on behalf of all of our children and their parents and staff THANK YOU it really does help to make a difference and we hope you will remain our friends and please drop in anytime.
